e-Court abides by the following : Consent is considered to be the cornerstone of the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Organizations are required to obtain individuals’ consent to lawfully collect, use and disclose personal information in the course of commercial activity.

The purpose of PIPEDA is to establish rules that govern the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in a manner that recognizes the right of privacy of individuals with respect to their personal information and the need of organizations to collect, use or disclose personal information for the purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstance

PIPEDA relies on knowledge and consent as a requirement for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. Organizations are required to inform individuals about what personal information they will collect, how they plan to use or disclose that information, and for what purposes, to enable individuals to decide whether or not to provide consent. This aims to provide individuals with control over how their information will be collected, used and disclosed.
